Wall-e.

Well James talked me into going to Wall-e. What really sold me is just going on a date with my husband. But, Wall-e is nothing like I expected. It is charming, funny and entertaining. It was worth the money getting a babysitter and walking to go to the theater. We can’t wait until it comes out to DVD. I recommend Wall-e for all ages; we are now trying to find a time to take Thomas. There are definite political undertones and the movie mirrors our society, but it has a good message, so it is worth it. The previews don’t do the movie justice; if you don’t think you will like it (like me) you will be pleasantly surprised. Don’t forget to stay for the credits, they are entertaining, too. Have you seen it? Did you like it? Are you going to? Let me know.

Believe it or Not!!

So we were in our garden yesterday doing the never-ending job of weeding, and we found the strangest weed. A peanut plant!! Can you believe it, when James pulled it out we were in shock. We are thinking it was a forgotten peanut from a hoarding squirrel (we have some fat squirrels in this town). Well, we transplanted it into a good spot by the soaker hose and we will see what happens.

Anything is possible with a little water and time.

When we bought our house two years ago we also bought the empty lot next to it. We were beside ourselves on what to do with that much property. So we decided to do what every other person does when they are crazy enough to think they have some spare time, we put in a garden. So in February we bought our seeds and put shelves in our basement windows and started our garden. We have finally gotten all of our seedlings into the ground, but we did lose a few in the process. This was no easy feat and we are still not done. Now we are working on keeping the weeds at bay and we are giving it weekly fertilizer treatments. We have also connected a soaker hose to our sprinkler system so that it gets watered automatically every night. We did that about two days ago and since then the garden has really been happy. We even had the foresight to install at thick layer of green ground covering (weeds) to walk on between the rows. Really I am taking more credit than is due. Almost every night James weeds, transplants and gives tender loving care to our new addition. Thomas and Lucy play on the playground and I help about as much as a 5 year-old would (except I don’t get into trouble). I am so excited about this new adventure and I hope that all of you who live close can also reap the benefits. By the end of this we hope to harvest tomatoes, butternut squash, eggplant, green peppers, sunflowers, pumpkins, zucchini, yellow squash, carrots, sugar snap peas, basil, cherry tomatoes, Indian corn, and crab apples. Also, I forgot to mention that James started about 15 grapevines last year. Only two survived, but those two are doing fabulous and we should see grapes next summer, yummy!

I think I am a Paul Giamatti Fan.

I just finished watching a fantastic mini-series. It was Paul Giamatti as John Adams, based on the book with the same title by David McCullough. It was nice to watch a movie that makes you proud to be a part of this country. I highly recomend this for everyone, and the best part is that you can get it from Netflix. I hope you enjoy!
