When we moved to Texas two months ago we thought the water tasted a bit funny. It was drinkable but just a little after taste. We got use to it and thought nothing of it. Well a few days ago every time the water was turned on I could smell it, and it tasted GROSS. I complained about it to James and he said that it tasted and smelled fine. I thought I was going crazy. Even when we went out to eat I could smell and taste that swampy flavor. I was starting to feel sick to my stomach. Then I thought, "well if James can't taste it and the kids don't care, maybe I have changed." When I am pregnant I have a heightened sense of taste and smell maybe that was it. So guess what....
A water main broke in town and made the water have a strange odor and flavor. If you boil the water it goes away but the water is still safe to drink without boiling. I am not crazy and I am not pregnant. Big relief!!!!!
Oh and the big news is that James and I have the same callings here in Texas that we did in Chadron. I am doing the program and newsletter and James is first counselor in the Elders Quorum.

I'm glad you figured out your water problem. Virginia had bad tasting water all the time. Thank goodness for water filters
You TOTALLY had me going. I was thinking, "oh wow...oh oh wow" and then the scroll down. You sneaky thing, you.
So what is it in the water? I mean, if you taste something, that means there's something there to taste. We have a RO system so there's no taste. Well, I take that back, they completely purify the water and then they have a "taste filter" that actually puts healthy minerals BACK into the water for taste. Isn't that hilarious! I guess that's how it works though, remove all the bad stuff, then put good stuff back in. Weird, though.
Brittany.....lets just say I am glad that you found out what the problem was!
So have you been boiling water? When is the problem going to be fixed?
So We have been boiling our water the water and running it through a water filter too. Now it tastes a lot better.
we can't stand the taste or smell of the water here in Texas either - I'm curious as to where you moved to...? I'm in Orange, TX along the gulf..
We buy all of our water by the gallons right now but considering doing the big water bottles like business offices use.. but the thing holding me back is my twin 2 year olds.. I'm afraid they'd be into it too much right now at this age. :/ sigh
Glad I found your blog - Love from Orange! ~bonnie
